Janette Manrara breaks down in tears over HRVY’s emotional Strictly final speech

Strictly: Janette Manrara receives message from Aljaz Skorjanec

Janette Manrara made it to her first Strictly Come Dancing final with singer HRVY, 21, and the pair received an impressive score of 29 for their Show Dance to Boogie Wonderland. As HRVY paid tribute to Janette, telling her she is “amazing,” the professional dancer was overcome with emotion.

Host Claudia Winkleman joked HRVY would hate her as she asked if he had anything to say to Janette ahead of their final American Smooth.

HRVY told Janette: “Thank you for everything you are the most incredible human being I have met.

“You are so talented and you’ve put up with me for the last couple of months and you’re just amazing.

“I’m so happy that I can be with you in the final because you deserve it so much.

“You’re amazing, you’re so good, you’re so good, you deserve this.”

As HRVY hugged Janette, Claudia remarked: “Thank you so much, sorry about the crying and mascara situation.”

“Make-up is going to kill me,” Janette laughed.

HRVY and Janette are performing their Jive from week one and American Smooth as well as their Show Dance in the hope of winning votes from viewers.

Ahead of the final, HRVY had shared concerns he wouldn’t be fighting fit as he revealed his knees had been “in agony”.

Speaking to press including Express.co.uk, HRVY said: “It’s a really weird thing and I’m doing what my dad and grandad do which I really hate, every times I get up and down I [wince].

“I make noises. I hate that. It’s just because my body and my knees are in agony.”

Janette added she has been pushing HRVY each week to improve.

“You could come in with someone like HRVY who has the talent he has and just take an easy route but I think because of week one and the Jive we did, I felt the pressure massively as a choreographer and a teacher to make sure every week we came back with something just as incredible if not, hopefully even more incredible than the week before,” she remarked.

“I have many, many sleepless nights, many hours watching the routine a thousand times over again.

“Poor HRVY has been right there with me every day pushing through exhaustion, just because you do want to deliver the best possible version of the dance on Saturday.”

Ahead of the final, it was a two-horse race for the Strictly Come Dancing crown.

The bookies revealed the latest odds ahead of the final, and it was Bill who headed to the dance floor as 8/11 favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy.

HRVY was a 7/4 shot having been favourite in the betting himself two weeks ago, while Maisie Smith was a 6/1 shot with Jamie Laing way back at 50/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There’s 34 years between them but it’s Bill who heads the betting heading into the Strictly final, with HRVY just behind as things stand.”
