Janette Manrara’s final Strictly dance ‘sabotaged’ by costume detail: ‘It can cut HRVY!’

Strictly: Rylan Clark-Neal jokes about Janette being 'sabotaged'

Janette, 36, and HRVY, 21, are on course to become the champions of this year’s season of Strictly Come Dancing, having topped the leaderboard for weeks. This Saturday, they will perform three times to try and win over the judges and BBC viewers one final time before the champions are revealed at the end of the nail-biting episode. During Thursday’s edition of spin-off show It Takes Two, host Rylan, 31, was told the professional dancer was going to have to be “careful” in her dress for one of the routines as it could cause an injury.

Speaking with costume designer Vicky Gill, Rylan was shown a selection of the dresses the contestants were going to wear in the final.

Referring to one of Janette’s costumes, the presenter said: “This is stunning. We just know how good she is going to look in it.”

The fashion expert explained: “We’re starting with a high-waisted knicker and then a jewelled bra top.

“We’ve got to be really careful with lifts and all the different combinations because we can cut HRVY and we do like him so we don’t want to injure him in any way because of the costume.”

At this point, the host of the spin-off show then made a light-hearted quip as he jokingly accused the wardrobe department of trying to “sabotage” the couple’s chances of getting the Glitterball Trophy.

“I smell sabotage,” Rylan remarked, with Vicky seen laughing at the comment as she knew the presenter wasn’t being serious.

Discussing the dress in a little more depth, the fashion expert commented: “There is a festival feel. So really fun, lots of pastel colours.

“HRVY will hopefully be in a pale blue with a little bit of zing to it, that was his request,” the costume designer added.

The host replied: “He’s a finalist, he can have what he wants,” before saying of the professional dancer’s dress: “She loves it and she is going to look absolutely stunning.”

This weekend, both Janette and HRVY will be taking a trip down memory lane as they perform two routines they’ve already danced this season.

The pair have chosen to repeat their American Smooth from week seven of the competition whereas the judges have said they would like to see the Jive from week one again.

Completing their schedule for the final is a Showdance, which they will be performing to the Earth, Wind and Fire hit, Boogie Wonderland.

Fans have been rallying behind the couple and sharing their support on Twitter, with one viewer writing: “Really hope HRVY wins. He’s super talented. Time to branch out into musicals.”

Another fan posted: “Love this guy! @HRVY clearly the best dancer on @bbcstrictly this year. Sorry @BillBailey!”

Whilst a third commented: “I am so happy that Janette is in the final, she deserves this, she is one of my fave pro dancers and she can finally show off her amazing choreography in a Showdance.

“Even though I’ve always said she should have been in the final before with Jake Wood #Strictly,” they continued.

A fourth remarked as they voiced their excitement for the final: “#strictly we are in for an amazing Showdance with HRYV and Janette.”

According to the latest odds from Coral bookmakers, it seems the pair are going to need to put in some extra work to beat Bill Bailey, 55.

The comedian currently sits at 8/11 to win the Glitterball Trophy whilst HRVY and Janette’s chances of glory are 7/4.

Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “It’s time for the Strictly Come Dancing final and we make Bill Bailey the one to beat and the odds on favourite.

“He’s had a spectacular run, having been an outsider at the start of the series, and it would be a fairytale win.”

Strictly Come Dancing concludes Saturday at 6pm on BBC One.
