Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek breaks down in tears over his wife’s strength in his stage IV pancreatic cancer battle – The Sun

ALEX Trebek became emotional when speaking about how strong his wife Jean has been throughout his cancer battle

The Jeopardy! host sat down with Good Morning America to discuss his journey while fighting stage IV pancreatic cancer, and all the supported he has received.

Alex said: “There was one day a few weeks ago when Jeanie asked me in the morning, ‘How do you feel?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I wanna die.’ It was that bad.'

“I apologize to her and explain that it has nothing to do with my love for her or my feelings for her.

"It just has to do with the fact that I feel like I’m a terrible burden to her. And that bothers me tremendously.”

However, while the iconic game show host might feel like a burden, his longtime wife has remained by his side through it all.

“She’s a saint,” Alex said, trying to hold back his tears.

“She has so much goodness in her that she is always giving out, always putting out to help me get over difficult moments.

"And there have been some difficult moments. I’m just in awe of the way she handles it.”

Alex and Jean tied the knot in 1990. They share two kids: son Matthew, 30, and daughter Emily, 27.

Alex, who has a book entitled, The Answer Is…Reflections On My Life, is also grateful for all those that have reached out to him since he revealed his diagnosis in March 2019.

He said: “I’ve received so many expressions of love and so many prayers said on my behalf – since the diagnosis was made public that I thought, ‘Well, maybe – maybe the people would care to learn something about me.'"

Alex also has no plans to step down from behind the podium at Jeopardy, a show he has hosted since 1984.

He explained: "My doctor has told me that he is counting on me celebrating two years of – survivorship past the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. And that two years happens in February.

“So I expect to be around ‘cause he said I will be around. And I expect to be hosting the show if I am around.”

The interview comes just a few days after Alex provided a health update to his fan in a short clip.

He said: "I'm doing well, I'm continuing treatment and it's paying off though it does fatigue me a great deal."

Alex continued and revealed that his numbers were good and he was "feeling great."
