Lisa Fowler returns to EastEnders for 'thrilling' storyline
EastEnders has confirmed that Lucy Benjamin will return to Walford later this year as Lisa Fowler, who will be involved in a ‘thrilling’ storyline involving her pregnant daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) that will explore Lisa’s very intricate and dark history on the Square.
Which is sure to mean fireworks between her and Phil (Steve McFadden) who last came face to face when Lisa was sectioned after kidnapping injured Louise who had been burned in hospital. Lisa has been at the centre of some iconic storylines and recently hinted to Metro.co.uk that she would be up for a return.
Since Lisa’s last visit, Tamzin Outhwaite has also come back as Lisa’s best friend Mel Owen so viewers are excitedly anticipating this duo sharing the screen again.
Enthusing about coming back to the show, Lucy said: ‘Going back to EastEnders feels like going home and I couldn’t be more excited to be back on the Square and working with such a talented bunch of actors and crew. I love and adore playing Lisa and am looking forward to revisiting the role and seeing what’s in store for her this time.’
Jon Sen, Executive Producer, added: ‘Lisa Fowler is one of the most enduringly popular characters in the history of the show. We’re all chuffed that Lucy’s agreed to come back later this year for a thrilling storyline that takes us into the heart of her past on the Square.’
Lisa first appeared on screen in 1998 and quickly entered a toxic and abusive relationship with Phil. The pair’s legacy aside from Louise is a lot of bitterness and hate and it is likely that there will be some stormy showdowns as Lisa arrives back.
With Louise due to give birth later in the year and still oblivious to the fact that Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) and Sharon (Letitia Dean) have been having an on/off affair, it sounds like injecting Lisa into the already complex situation is going to make things all the more explosive.
