Lucifer fans were left devastated when Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) was killed in season three of the hit series, leaving Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) heartbroken. Now it seems she could be making an exciting return – here’s everything revealed about this for fans of the series.
Will Charlotte Richards be back in Lucifer season 5?
Tricia Helfer first joined Lucifer in season two where she played Lucifer Morningstar’s (Tom Ellis) mother.
Known as Goddess, when she first made her way to Earth she took the identity of Charlotte Richards, who was an attorney.
She was one of the main antagonists in season two before Lucifer used a flaming sword to banish her.
Then in season three, she became her human self once again and got increasingly close to Dan.
But it was not to be a happy ending for the pair as she was accidentally killed by Lieutenant Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling) at the end of season three.
Fans will remember how she sacrificed herself to save Amenadiel (DB Woodside) in the heartbreaking moment.
Her fate was briefly mentioned in season four when Amenadiel told Dan how she was in Heaven.
However, viewers didn’t think they would see her again after this in the series.
Although, in October 2019, TV Line confirmed actor Helfer will be making a return in the new series, but it was not clear how she would do this.
Now the star has opened up a bit more about her return in a virtual Lucifer fan event organised by Megacon to raise money for charity.
According to jimheath.tv, Helfer was in attendance and she gave some insight into her role.
During the interview, she revealed she will not be playing either Charlotte or Goddess but actually a whole new character.

She explained: “It was put out there in the press, that picture, and that episode has not been held secretive.
“I think the fans know there are elements of that episode that are not in the norm of Lucifer.
“I’m just glad to be back. I’m playing neither mom or Charlotte.
“I think you’re going to love the episode. Kevin [Alejandro, who plays Dan] made me laugh so hard in one scene I almost peed my pants.”
While it was not confirmed, it seems like Helfer could be coming back for the special noir episode which has been teased.
This is expected to see all of the stars of the show play different characters apart from Lucifer and Maze (Lesley Ann-Brandt).
However, during the chat, Helfer did confirm she is not back for good and will not be returning in season six as well.
She revealed to the fans listening in: “I’m not in Season six.”
Although her co-stars Woodside and Aimee Garcia were keen for her to come back.
Woodside said “She has to come back for Season 6,” while Garcia added “We all love Trish so never say never!”
Lucifer season 5 part 1 will be released on August 21.
