Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) and the rest of the NCIS team return to CBS in the USA on Monday, September 20 in an all-new time slot. And there are a number of questions to answer, none least who blew up Gibbs’ boat in the season 18 finale which the likes of McGee (Sean Murray), Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) hellbent of seeking the truth in the 19th run. However, this doesn’t look to be the only storyline of interest as the show’s famous diner has been a focus of many new teasers – a location fans will remember for being the setting of tense hostage situation involving Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) and Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
To recap, way back in season 17, Kasie, Jimmy, waitress Elaine (Connie Jackson) and a handful of other patrons found themselves pinned inside the diner by a group of robbers.
When a jewellery heist nearby went awry, the gang holed up in the diner where Kasie and Jimmy had enjoyed an impromptu breakfast.
Luckily, in true NCIS fashion, Jimmy and Kasie made it out alive although it’s fair to say the entire situation was touch and go throughout the episode.
Now, ahead of season 19, the NCIS official Instagram account has shared a handful of snaps from the diner in the build-up – as well as giving the setting a brand new name.
In one snap, Gibbs and Marcie Warren’s (Pam Dawber) first meeting is shown while a second shows the aforementioned breakfast Kasie and Jimmy shared.
Replying on the social media site, Reasonover replied: “And now Kasie gets her [baegl emoji] to go!”
And while many perceived this as Reasonover referring to the season 17 incident, some fear it could be hinting at a haunting season 19 storyline.
“I feel like this comment might mean something that I don’t like the sound of… [skull emoji],” one eagle-eyed fans replied.

It didn’t take long for the comment to garner a number of likes from those who appeared to agree.
The fan added: “I’m just talking about what Diona said… not the pics… it’s might be a hint for what’s to come… who knows with cis at this point [laugh emoji].” (Sic)
So could Reasonover’s cryptic “bagel” comment hint at another harrowing storyline similar to the hostage situation in season 19?
Fans will have to wait until the show returns to find out for sure but it’s not the only snap from the diner which has caught the eye of the fandom.

NCIS released the key art for season 19 on Monday and it featured Gibbs front and centre with the team in the diner.
Sharing it to Twitter, the account revealed the all-new name for the location.
“We think it’s about time this diner had a name. Grab a cup of coffee at Elaine’s Diner. #NCIS,” it penned.
And while Gibbs, Torres, Kasie and the rest of the team are featured, there’s one figure behind walking out of the diner which has sent the rumor mill off.
“Who’s just walking out the door? Is this a clue?” one eagle-eyed fan responded on Twitter.
A second speculated: “Wonder who the guy is leaving… Is it a Doctor or Spurgeon… May be Deeks?”
“Oh, I didn’t see that person at the door,” a third commented. “Hard to tell – too blurry – but it does look like a male. Wouldn’t that be exciting if was Tony though!”
While a fourth called on the cast and crew: “@NCIS_CBS @stevebinder @mostx1 @ChrisWaild @BrianDietzen @WValderrama @DionaReasonover @SeanHMurray @katrinalaw Calling on our top team investigators….So ‘Who’s’ the person/ghost going out the diner door? #NCIS.”
With so much speculation surrounding the diner, hit looks like it may play centre stage in season 19.
NCIS season 19 premieres on CBS in the USA on Monday, September 20. A Uk release date is yet to be announced.
