Outlander season 5: Roger MacKenzie under threat as he takes part in the war?

Outlander viewers have waited long enough for the show to return. Thankfully, their time waiting is over, as season five is just around the corner, and the stories surrounding Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will continue once again.

Viewers last left the Frasers in America dealing with the drama surrounding Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin).

Now the couple are back together and happily looking after their son Jemmy, a lot of focus has been moved to the Frasers’ surroundings.

While America has so far been an incredible boon to the Frasers – and indeed the Scottish who moved there – the country is on the brink of war.

The American Revolutionary War is just around the corner, and it looks like Claire and Jamie are going to be embroiled in the commotion.

  • Outlander season 5: Will Jamie Fraser be killed in battle?

Recently the cast spoke to TV Insider about the war, and Roger star Richard explained his character’s role in the battles.

He explained Roger is completely out of his element during the impending war.

Richard revealed: “Roger is a captain of Jamie’s militia, a huge role, one he’s honoured by but knows is beyond him.”

To get him ready for his role in the army, he receives some shooting lessons from his wife, Brianna.

Richard went on to explain: “He goes on an incredible journey, and in later episodes, he can handle himself.”

With Roger supposedly on the front line of the war, could he be left in a dangerous position as the battles progress?

If this is the case, Brianna and her new baby could be left without Roger.

As the throes of battle commence, Roger and Jamie will be left to their own devices to survive – but will the pair be able to protect each other?

Later in the interview Sam confessed: “Inside, Jamie is still the Highland warrior — you see flashes of that — but he’s a military man now.
