Power Book 2's latest trailer sees Tariq's life on the line as Tasha and Monet go to war

POWER Book 2's newest trailer sees Tariq's life on the line as Tasha and Monet go to head-to-head.

The spin-off show has released a new trailer to get fans excited for the remainder of the season.

Viewers last saw Saxe(Shane Johnson) and Davis (Method Man) come to an understanding after the latter caught Tariq admitting that he killed his father James 'Ghost' St. Patrick.

The pair decided they want to work together to take Tariq down and the trailer show Tariq on the ground trying to fend off someone on top of him.

Also in the new promo, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) continues to work with Monet (Mary J Blige), as Tasha (Naturi Naughton) faces trial over Ghost's murder.

The two alpha-females look set to go to war as Tasha warned her over the phone: "If you hurt what's mine, I swear to God I will find a way to hurt what's yours."

Tasha actress Naturi Naughton previously teased what viewers can expect from Monet, suggesting that her alter-ego will clash with the newcomer.

She added: "I think having Mary J Blige step in to this role of Monet is so exciting because it's adding another strong female character to our story base.

She's awesome – and so humble and ready to work, her and Method Man – but [it's exciting] for women out there who see a reflection of themselves in Monet's character and Tasha.

She continued: "You know, it's really beautiful because I think we often don't get to see that as much, and I think the way that Monet is written, people really enjoy, she's a really good character and Mary J is iconic – so it's an honour to have this beautiful iconic female come into power and literally just kill it."

Expanding on the dynamic between Tasha and Monet, Naturi added: "We may not see each other at first, because our worlds are different.

"However, our paths may cross. And when they do, we will not be buddy buddy, not at first."

Earlier this month Power's Ghost actor Omari Hardwick has revealed his biggest regret over his death in the divisive finale.

Ghost died in the arms of his best friend Tommy, but the ending left viewers divided and Omari has now revealed how he would have liked the series to end.

What I email her [creator Courtney Kemp] was that it's season 7 and Ghost, like Denzel [Washington] in Man on Fire, an eye for an eye, a life for a life, he has to go help his brother, Tommy. "Tommy does what he shouldn't do and Ghost has to give his life."
