Richard Madeley spoke with Tracey Mallaghan of Insulate Britain as the pair furiously went back and forth over the climate change group’s protest methods. But the interview quickly became sidetracked after the Good Morning Britain host was attacked for his interview techniques with Ms Mallaghan saying he was asking the “wrong questions”. Mr Madeley called out the “patronising” behaviour as the two began shouting over each other during the ITV show.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Ms Mallaghan was invited on to the show following Insulate Britain’s warning to not use the M25 on Wednesday.

The climate group branded it a “site of non-violent civil resistance” after the UK Government was granted a national injunction against the group to stop them protesting on the roads.

Ms Mallaghan spoke to Mr Madeley on the ITV programme but things quickly went awry when Ms Mallaghan was accused of not answering any questions put to her.

The activist was first asked how would she react if Ms Mallaghan’s mother was trapped in the traffic her group had caused and was having a stroke.

Ms Mallaghan avoided the question and simply said people should get medical help if that happens before attacking Mr Madeley for being “heartless” and “scared” to ask questions on climate change.

After the two went back and forth, the argument became tenser despite Mr Madeley’s best efforts to relax things.

He told Ms Mallaghan: “That is not an honest way to do an interview, I’m going to ask one more time, if your daughters say…”

Mr Madeley was interrupted once more as Ms Mallaghan said he was too focused on the individual.

GMB: Richard Madeley calls Insulate Britain protestor 'darling'

She exclaimed: “You have to stop this, are you too scared, heartless or stupid?!”

Mr Madeley calmly replied he was none of those things but said he did not like being “patronised in that way”.

Ms Mallaghan turned it back on the GMB presenter and noted he called her “darling” at the beginning of the interview – for which he apologised for.

The two continued to yell over each other with Mr Madeley wanting to know if Ms Mallaghan would continue to block roads to the detriment of her daughter’s health.

DON’T MISS:

The climate activist shouted louder and said her children faced war, famine, and drought if nothing was done to address climate change.

An irritated Mr Madeley appeared to give up and said: “It’s no good is it, if they were seriously ill, would you let them through?”

Mr Mallaghan said she was not being asked the right questions with Mr Madeley pointing out she had not listened or answered any question in its entirety.

Insulate Britain blocked part of the A40 in West London and a roundabout in Dartford on Wednesday morning.

Footage quickly emerged of protesters covered in ink after they were allegedly attacked.
