Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway returned with an all-new look tonight as it premiered a virtual audience for the very first time. With coronavirus guidelines meaning the ITV studio couldn’t welcome a live audience, fans joined the duo from their own homes to join in with the fun. However, throughout the opening few minutes, several viewers became distracted as feedback from the virtual crowd became overpowering.
Taking to Twitter to fume about the sound problems, one Saturday Night Takeaway viewer fumed: “@itvtakeaway #SaturdayNightTakeaway TURN OFF THE MICS! My god!! MOST ANNOYING THING EVER!”
“The audience sounds so… off. like I know they’re on a screen but it sounds like they’re booing #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” a second pointed out.
Another echoed: “@ITV please can we get rid of the interfering webcam noise on #SaturdayNightTakeaway we were looking forward to the show but it’s a horrible noise! Thanks!”
“The noise is horrendous #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” agreed a fourth, with a fifth adding to the debate: “That sound is unbearable #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
And a sixth added to the discussion: “The background noise on #SaturdayNightTakeaway needs sorting coz it’s so bloody annoying!” (sic).
