'Sex and the City': 3 Episodes to Watch if You Think Aidan Shaw Was the One for Carrie Bradshaw

Sex and the City fans remain divided about Carrie Bradshaw’s ideal love, nearly 20 years after the series aired its final original episode. Some fans believe Mr. Big was always the one for Carrie, while others argue that the unassuming Aidan Shaw was her perfect match, had she just stopped to realize it. Aidan fans are in luck. The character is slated to return for And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot, although his storyline remains unclear. Before HBO Max airs the reboot, Aidan fans can catch up on all his greatest moments on the streaming platform. These are the top three episodes Carrie and Aidan fans should watch ahead of the reboot.

Season 3 of ‘Sex and the City’ established Carrie and Aidan as the perfect couple

Mr. Big’s sudden marriage to Natasha traumatized Carrie. Still, she managed to get back in the saddle and start dating again. Carrie and Aidan met thanks to Stanford Blatch, but fans didn’t know the couple would be anything special until the episode, “Are We Sluts?”

Still a bit raw from the Mr. Big fiasco, Carrie tries to figure out why Aidan refuses to spend the night with her. When she finally tells him what’s bothering her, he reminds her that they’d only been dating a couple of weeks and that he wanted to avoid jumping into bed with women until he was certain he cared about them. Fans swooned, and Carrie realizes she had completely forgotten what romance looks like.

The season 4 episode “Ghost Town” is a fan favorite

Carrie and Aidan may have initially gotten together in season 3 of the series, but some fans believe the real meat of their relationship didn’t happen until season 4. Sex and the City season 4 contained the episode “Ghost Town.” The episode is largely considered one of Aidan’s best moments. Sure, he was sweet in season 3, but this particular episode, argue fans, elevates the unassuming furniture designer and makes him truly sexy.

In the episode, Miranda Hobbes runs into her former love and finds out he and Aidan are opening a bar together. Steve Brady invites Miranda and Carrie to the opening. While Carrie was initially reluctant to go, she finally agrees. Once there, she and Aidan share a brief moment in an alley behind the establishment that rivals most of Carrie’s sultriest moments with Mr. Big. It’s also when it becomes clear Carrie and Aidan will find their way back to each other.

“Just Say Yes!” was the beginning of the end for Carrie and Aidan, but the episode was still sweet

Carrie and Aidan were doing well after a few relationship hiccups. They were doing so well, in fact, that they agreed to move in together. Later in the episode, Aidan proposes, and while Carrie was initially reluctant to say yes, she eventually did, blaming a ring switch as the reason she said yes.

While the couple never made it down the aisle, fans still appreciate “Just Say Yes!” for what it is. Aidan proposed in the middle of the street while walking the dog. His speech felt so genuine and heartfelt that fans can’t help but enjoy it, even if the wedding never actually happened.
