'Sex and the City' Fans Think Kim Cattrall Just Threw Major Shade at the Reboot

Sex And The City fans think Kim Cattrall just threw some major shade at her old cast mates ahead of the HBO reboot.

In July 2021, fans were given their first look at the Sex and The City reboot And Just Like That starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. While it was made common knowledge that Kim wouldn’t be reprising her role as Samantha, some new cast members joined the show, including Sara Ramirez, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, and Sarita Choudhury, whom SJP announced on Instagram in July.

SJP went ahead and shared a photo of Nicole hugging the three main cast members on August 17 with the caption, “Oh so fine. I’d sing along to 70s love songs with this trio deep into any night. @justlikethatmax I’ll see you ladies tomorrow!”

In somewhat ~coincidental~ timing, Kim took to Instagram the next day with what some speculate is a shady caption. Posing alongside a dog named Pixel (her co-star in Sensitive Skin), Kim wrote, “When your co-star is a real dog 🐶.”

Fans were quick to jump on the caption, questioning whether there was a double meaning behind her post. One comment read, “I’m sensing a little shade here? 🤔🤣” and another put, “Is this shade? 🤔”

Other comments read, “So shady I love it” and “Samantha will never be replaced.”

It’s well known that Kim and SJP didn’t get along by the end of the original Sex and the City. Plus. While SJP has always been vocal about wanting to do another series or film, Kim has made it repeatedly clear that she is done with the franchise.

“[Samantha] is a great part. I played it past the finish line and then some, and I loved it. And another actress should play it,” Kim said in 2017. “Maybe they could make it an African-American Samantha Jones, or a Hispanic Samantha Jones.”

Fair enough.
