Spoilers: Alcoholic Peter attacks Ken in violent scenes in Corrie
Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) lashed out at dad Ken (William Roache) in Coronation Street tonight (January 27).
The young man has been struggling with his reliance on the booze in recent weeks, and even admitted that he doesn’t want to give up drinking.
His addiction has had an adverse effect on Ken’s health, as he’s been unable to sleep, and has made it his mission to save his son — even if that means handing out flyers to pubs and off-licenses to warn them not to serve Peter.
Meanwhile, Peter seemingly came to the conclusion that his life isn’t worth living, and therefore — preparing for what he thought to be the inevitable end — he wrote a letter for Simon (Alex Bain).
Carla Connor (Alison King) was horrified when she discovered the note, as she thought it was a suicide letter.
Peter tried to make her see that it wasn’t, but the very fact that he believes he is going to die resulted in her making a drastic decision.
She summoned Simon to the house, and — against Peter’s wishes — read him the letter.
Peter was horrified, and promised Carla he’d never forgive her for what she’s done, before heading off once more.
Ken did all he could to track down Peter, and eventually located him in a hotel.
The patriarch took away his son’s second drink, which resulted in Peter growing aggressive, before ultimately punching his 80-year-old dad in the face.
He was riddled with guilt afterwards, and ultimately agreed to come home with Ken, as he was ready to stop drinking now.
Coronation Street continues Friday January 29 at 7:30pm on ITV.
