Spoilers: Hollyoaks knife horror revealed in Christmas flash-forward episode

Hollyoaks has made a name for itself tackling important issues, and it’s set to do so once more, as next year it will explore child criminal exploitation through county lines.

This storyline will be a huge focus as the soap enters its 25th year, and it’s set to commence in the ground-breaking flash-forward episode — which will demonstrate how different characters’ lives have evolved over a twelve-month period by showing us where they are at this time next year, before returning to the present so that we have the opportunity to watch the story unfold in real time.

Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw), Sid (Billy Price), Charlie (Charlie Behar) and Ella (Erin Palmer) are among those who will be involved in the storyline, and the seeds are sewn in multiple flash-forward sequences throughout the upcoming episode.

In one of the aforementioned future scenes, a knife can be seen being put into an evidence bag — one year after Tom (Ellis Hollins) uses the very same knife to cut his birthday cake in the present day.

With little else known other than this, we can only speculate as to what has transpired, but with the knife being considered as evidence, it’s safe to assume that something sinister has taken place. The question on everyone’s lips is, of course: what happened?

Has someone been injured by the knife? Has a stabbing taken place? If so, has the injured party managed to survive?

One to watch: Friday 27th December at 7pm on E4.
