Stacey Solomon shares update on baby daughter after 'traumatic time' with son Rex
STACEY Solomon has shared an update on her one-week-old baby daughter after struggling with her youngest son Rex.
The Loose Women star took to her social media to celebrate her newborn being within the healthy weight range during her first weigh in.
Stacey, 32, admitted she was relieved that her currently unnamed baby girl was "within the lines" after she struggled with son Rex, two.
She described her now-tot's weighing day as "traumatic" after he plumetted in weight in the days following his birth in 2019.
"It was weighing day today," Stacey revealed on Instagram alongside a sweet clip of her new baby yawning and wriggling around in her bed.
"I got really nervous. Rex's weight day he was down 14% and it was all a bit traumatic so I worked myself up a bit today," she went on.
"But she's OK and well within the lines! So now my shoulders are finally down and I'm in bed, Rex is asleep next to me and I'm watching the sunset whilst watching her wake up and get ready for her night time feeding.
"But I'm ready with ten pints of water and a giant dairy milk Daim bar."
It comes after the TV favourite bravely revealed that she is struggling with breastfeeding again, after being open about her difficulty when Rex was born.
She told her followers: "I'm struggling again with feeding this time around, so spending all of my energy trying to feed, eat, and rest.
"Also seeing local breastfeeding specialists and the community midwives who have been incredible, so hoping for a more positive journey in the end this time but not putting pressure on myself."
Stacey added: "Even though it makes me a bit sad. Whatever will be will be."
The TV favourite documented her struggle with Rex back in 2019, sharing at the time: "Breastfeeding never happened for me the way that I imagined. I did my best to try and master it, but it wasn’t to be."
She confessed to feeling "like a failure" for not being able to feed her newborn, and spoke candidly about losing bonding time with him.
She wrote: "I felt like I’d failed & that I’d lost the chance to have that special time and bond with Rex. I felt like everyone else was going to feed him and I’d lose my baby."
However, Stacey was eventually able to come to terms with it, adding: "The truth is, I did my absolute best. Every baby is different.
"I’m so lucky I have a few wonderful breastfeeding memories and some women don’t get that chance. I have an extremely special bond with Rex, one that would be there whether I breastfed or not, he grew in my tummy and we’ve known each other for a long time.
"I love bottle feeding, it’s nice to share the feeding with Joe and our family sometimes too, they’re not stealing him away, just helping and bonding too."
Stacey is mum to 13-year-old Zachary, and nine-year-old Leighton in addition to Rex and her newborn.
