Strictly fans overjoyed as Maisie Smith scores perfect score with epic routine
Strictly Come Dancing fans jumped for joy on Saturday night as Maisie Smith and her dance partner Gorka Marquez scored full marks for their epic routine.
The 19-year-old actress, who plays Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders, danced to Will Smith’s Getting’ Jiggy Wit It for her first routine of the night with Gorka which landed her the maximum 30 points.
Judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse said the routine would go down in history as one of the best Strictly has ever seen, leaving Maisie overwhelmed with their comments.
Craig Revel Horwood finally cracked and gave Maisie a 10, before Shirley held up her 10 paddle and Motsi joked that she was giving her 11 out of the possible 10.
Viewers at home were delighted that the young actress finally managed to score the perfect 30.
Taking to Twitter, one fan posted: "Finally Maisie and Gorka get 30….definitely long overdue!"
Another added: "GO ON MAISIE!!! She so deserved that 30!!! Had to laugh at Motsi saying 11."
While a third viewer said: "A well deserved 30! Will hopefully saved Maisie a little from the haters!"
Speaking about her routine, Maisie gushed: "‘It feels incredible, oh I am so happy!"
As well as having to learn two dances in one week, Maisie also had a very busy week of filming which meant she was working extremely long days to get her dance training in as well.
Gorka said: ‘It’s been such a difficult week as she’s been so busy and put so much effort into it that this just means the world to both of us."
Maisie has found herself in the dance-off twice before after landing in the bottom two of the public vote, but was saved by the judges for her consistently great dances.
As well as performing the couple’s choice dance, the couple danced the Viennesse Waltz on Saturday’s in a fight for a place in next week’s final.
Maisie almost got a second perfect score for her Viennesse Waltz after she received 10s from Motsi and Shirley and a nine from Craig.
Craig said: "Footwork much improved, I wanted to see a little more stretch but absolutely stunning."
Head judge Shirley added: "Your body has become like a musical instrument, sensitive, huge performance, one of the most beautiful Viennese waltzes I've seen.”
While Motsi gushed: "I feel like a little girl, I would hug you so hard if it was allowed. That dance deserves to put you in the final."
Masie and Gorka found themselves at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the show but have they done enough to reach the grand final?
