'The Handmaid's Tale' Drops Season 4 Trailer and Will Return in April
After a long wait, The Handmaid’s Tale will return in 2021. A new teaser for the Hulu drama was released on Feb. 25. The trailer for Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale announced the show will return to Hulu on April 28 and gave fans some clues about what to expect from the new season.
What happened in Season 3 of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
The third season of the Hulu show marked a huge turning point. The plot plodded along for a majority of the season, slowly setting the stage for a grand finale.
June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) works with Marthas, Handmaids, and Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) to help dozens of children escape Gilead. She chooses to stay behind, and while distracting a Guardian so the children can escape she is shot.
Rita (Amanda Brugel), a few other Marthas, and the children make it to Canada and reunite with Luke (O. T. Fagbenle), Moira (Samira Wiley), and Emily (Alexis Bledel).
Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) is arrested despite her attempts to live freely in Canada after having her husband Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) arrested.

Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale ends with June being rescued by Alma (Nina Kiri), Janine (Madeline Brewer), and other Handmaids, but her fate is left unknown.
A trailer for Season 4 of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ was released
On Feb. 25, Hulu released an official trailer for the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale. The trailer opens with a clip of June wearing a hat and sweatshirt in Chicago. A voiceover of a radio broadcast about the rebellion plays, making it clear June will not return to being a Handmaid.
As the radio broadcast continues, fans see a montage of clips including June and Janine enter Chicago in their Handmaids uniforms, Commander Lawrence being escorted down a hallway, and Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) standing on a bridge. The radio broadcast ends and “you should see me in a crown” by Billie Eilish begins.
“She’s out there planning who knows what kind of atrocities to visit upon our righteous nation,” Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) says in a voiceover. “Find her and bring her to me.”
“She’ll start a war,” Commander Waterford tells Serena Joy.
The trailer offers a glimpse of Mckenna Grace’s role as a young Wife, the group Handmaids undercover as Marthas, June’s daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake), and June and Nick sharing a passionate kiss.
“My name is June Osborne. I am a citizen of the United States,” June says in a voiceover at the end of the trailer,
The fourth season will premiere in April
Thankfully, fans will not have that long to wait for Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale. The new season will premiere on Hulu on April 28, and the season will have 10 episodes.
In the past, Hulu released multiple episodes on the show’s premiere date before releasing one episode per week for the remainder of the season. Based on this, one can anticipate a few episodes to be released on April 28 for fans to binge.
