This Morning Holly and Phil in hysterics as horse milk line causes off-air chaos

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were talking to roving reporter Josie Gibson as she milked a horse at farmer Frank Shellard’s farm on This Morning today.

Josie was exploring the potential health benefits of drinking the milk, which according to the farmer provide excellent help to the gut floor and can even clear up skin conditions like eczema.

But the unusual segment caused major problems during yesterday’s edition, which saw the presenters tasked with announcing what was to come for viewers planning their week.

After a successful clip saw Josie not only milking a horse live, but also trying the sweet drink – which she said tasted like "coconut milk" – Phil decided to let viewers in on the truth behind it.

He told viewers that they were so shocked by the planned segment the day before, he and Holly kept bursting into hysterics.

A montage of the pair trying to film saw both struggling through one line for eight minutes, as Holly said she was "going to wet myself" and continually wiped the tears from her eyes with a cloth.

Every time they tried to speak, the giggles took over once more, to the point where Phil decided to move across the other side of the ITV studio.

"I can still see you though," he snorted. "It’s just a different background."

As they finally managed to complete the seemingly-simple task, Phil just fell down face-first on the sofa in defeat, exhausted.

Cutting back to the present moment, a more-composed Phil revealed the unbelievable blunder had taken precious time out of the pre-show prep.

"It took us eight minutes, eight minutes to record that!" he exclaimed.

Bringing the whole segment to an end, Phil declared the idea of milking a cow was incredible.

He said it "really is human adaptability in these crazy times".

"Milking a horse, no problem!" the presenter finished with a laugh.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
