Who is David Morrissey? The City and the City actor who has starred in The Walking Dead, State of Play and Britannia

DAVID Morrissey is back on the box as General Aulus Plautis in the second series of Britannia.

The hit Sky Atlantic show returns TONIGHT (November 7.) But what else has the actor been in? And is he married? Here's what we know…

Who is David Morrissey?

David Morrissey, 55, is a BAFTA Nominated actor who works in both film and television.

He is best known for playing The Governor in FX series The Walking Dead, Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, Stephen Collins in State of Play and Ripley Holden in Blackpool.

He studied his craft at RADA.

David stars in the Sky TV show Britannia playing Aulus Plautius and also appeared in the thriller, City and the City.

Is David married?

David is married to novelist Esther Freud.

The couple wed in 2006.

They have three children together.


What is Britannia about and when's it on?

Britannia tells the story of the Roman Imperial Army of 43AD, and their determination to take over the Celtic heart of Britannia.

However, the land in question is ruled by warrior women and druids who threaten to conjure forces of the underworld in a bid to save their precious country.

The Roman Army is led by General Aurus, who will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

Sky Atlantic and Amazon signed a co-hosting deal to the rights of the show.

You can catch the first episode of the second series on November 7, 2019 on Sky Atlantic.

The second season will be spread over ten episodes.

And if you're a Sky or Now TV customer you can watch the entire series as a box set immediately after the first episode has been broadcast.
