Who Is Sonja Morgan’s Ex-Husband, John Adams Morgan?
Fans of The Real Housewives of New York adore the eccentric star Sonja Morgan. The lovable entrepreneur has shared her ups and downs on screen, from a failed toaster oven business to her many male suitors, yet Sonja’s biggest challenge throughout her decade on RHONY has been rooted in her split from ex-husband John Adams Morgan.
Sonja and John divorced in 2006, two years before Sonja joined the hit Bravo series, per Distractify. Their eight-year-long marriage is rumored to have ended due to infidelity, but Sonja holds no ill will to her ex. “My husband didn’t leave me, I left my husband,” Sonja told her costars in Season 10. “We still love each other and it was painful for both of us.”
Post-divorce, Sonja struggled to give up her affluent lifestyle and mourned having a lifelong partner. “I like to say I didn’t divorce the family,” Sonja explained on Watch What Happens Live. So who is Sonja’s former husband, John Adams Morgan? Keep scrolling to find out!
John Adams Morgan and Sonja Morgan share daughter Quincy
Yes, John Adams Morgan is related to that Morgan family. According to Screen Rant, Sonja Morgan’s ex-husband is the grandson of J.P. Morgan who founded the eponymous bank; John’s father is Henry Morgan, who created Morgan Stanley. John also is a direct descendant of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, hence Sonja and John’s daughter’s name, Quincy Morgan.
Of course, with John being 33 years Sonja’s senior, she wasn’t his first wife. In fact, Sonja is the fourth Mrs. John Adams Morgan. He also has two sons from past relationships. John later remarried for a fifth time in 2010 to Connie Adams Morgan who lists herself as “friend of the first lady Melania” on Twitter.
Sonja is still living large thanks in part to John’s divorce settlement, which included the Morgan townhouse. Her daughter Quincy proudly carries the Morgan family legacy. “I married into a very important American family and I honor the responsibility of raising my daughter into the legacy she was born into,” Sonja told Reality Blurb.
Quincy aside, Sonja isn’t worried about her “two separate worlds” colliding if the Morgan family watches RHONY. “As long as I help raise millions of dollars for the family charity — and I am family — it’s all appropriate,” Sonja said on Watch What Happens Live. “I’ve always been a girl to dance on tables… They know who I am.”
