After a jaw-dropping season three finale, Yellowstone returned to Paramount Network for a fourth season and fans were finally able to find out the fate of their favourite characters. Thankfully viewers were thrilled with the first episode and took to social media to express their excitement for season four.

Yellowstone follows the life of patriarch John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) as the head of a complicated and powerful ranch family.

In season three, he was battling against corporations, who wanted a piece of the Dutton land as it was the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

He had even turned down a $500 million offer to sell the land to Market Equities as the ranch had been in the Dutton family for six generations.

However, in the jaw-dropping finale, Duttons including John, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) were the victims of attempted murders and were left for dead.

Season four’s special two-hour premiere appeared to blow fans away as they took to Twitter to express their excitement for the upcoming episodes.

This included viewers such as Chella who tweeted: “#YellowstoneTV season 4 openers did not disappoint!”

Heather wrote: “Really good 2-hour premiere, especially the opening.”

Morgan couldn’t shake off the adrenaline and tweeted: “Heart is still racing thanks to the #YellowstoneTV season 4 premiere.”

Even though fans had to wait over a year for season four due to a delay caused by the pandemic, episode one saw things pick up where they left off.

Despite John, Beth and Kayce being left for dead, they weren’t backing down in defeat as they all survived their attacks.

John, who was shot after he pulled over to help a mother whose car had broken down, was airlifted to hospital.

After an explosive was delivered to her office and detonated before she could stop her assistant from opening the parcel, Beth emerged out of the rubble.

Kayce, who was forced to his under his desk and take cover after armed gunmen burst into his office firing shots, threw what looked like a grenade and chased them down.

Elsewhere, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) had left to help those attacked and unbeknownst to him, this left Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merrill) in danger as attackers made their way into their home.

However, it wasn’t until episode two, when John and he come together to try and figure out who was behind the murder attempts.

This is where fans learned the patriarch had leased some of the Dutton Ranch to Market Equities and didn’t believe they were behind the crimes.

The action-packed episodes also featured a two-month time-jump and while tempers subsided the family were still trying to work out who wanted them dead.

Jasmine was another fan who took to Twitter and wrote: “Well, @Yellowstone definitely didn’t disappoint me, that was a wild ride for sure.

This looks like it’s going to be the best season yet!! Can’t wait for next Sunday!!”

“That premiere was soo good. Worth the wait #YellowstoneTV,” said Valeria.

With season four beginning on such a high, fans will have to stay tuned to see where else the series can go.

Yellowstone seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Paramount Network.
